Exercise 1.5

For this blog, I am mainly focusing on my research question.  Research questions are very important; they influence the success of one’s project.  Below I state my research question along with some purposes for it.  Also, I am going to state some knowledge, ideas, and beliefs I already have on the topic I chose, which is sex trafficking.

1.      Inquiry Question:

How are human traffickers getting their victims?  Kidnapping?  Inducing them with false promises?

2.     Primary Purpose:

Explore:  Where are people being trafficked from?
                How old are the victims?
                How do the people transported?
Argue:  Should the United States help stop sex trafficking?
The United States should help stop sex trafficking by raising awareness, making stricter boarder control measures, and cracking down on prostitution.

3.     Prior Beliefs, Assumptions, Preconceptions, Ideas, and Prejudices

I have always thought that sex trafficking was bad.  It is morally wrong and degrading to a person.  People who find pleasure in torturing others makes me sick.  I despise men who take advantage of women.  When I was researching and found out that sex trafficking goes on all around the world, even in my hometown, I was very moved.  It is so crazy to think about sex trafficking and prostitution happening where I grew up.  The United States should not let this happen.  The US needs to become more strict and crack down on this perversion.  There is an organization called Love 146 that has a local chapter located right in Lancaster County.  This organization was established to help end child trafficking and exploitation.  After reading the company’s mission and goals I would really love to get involved with an organization to help end sex trafficking sometime in the future.  I hate sex trafficking even more now then before I had decided to write my essay on it.
